The Society of the Department of Sociology is a student-led organization formed by Hong Kong Shue Yan University Sociology students. It aims to enhance interactions and cooperation among Sociology students and provide a platform for students to gain a deeper understanding of the academic and research aspects of Sociology.
The Society organizes various activities, such as academic talks and recreational activities. It also encourages students to participate in community service, which is hoped to raise students’ awareness of social and civic responsibility.
SYNERGY, the 52nd cabinet of the Society of Department of Sociology, refers to synergy, that is, through the cooperation within individuals, resulting in the “one plus one greater than two” effect. It symbolizes that the members of the cabinet will complement with each other, humbly learn from opinions, and to do their best to provide better service and welfare to the students of the sociology department.
